Bonjour fashion lovers.
Last night I became very sad. I had just gotten home and I read about Tatiana Patitz's death. I don't know how to explain, but it's like a part of me was gone. I am not exaggerating, believe me.
She was part of that elite group of models who made fashion history in the 1990s. I'm talking about Christy, Cindy, Naomi, Linda, Claudia, Helena.
I got into the fashion world as a result of phrases and actions of bullying that I was a victim of. At the same time I became ill with anorexia. The photos of Sante d'Orazio, Peter Lindbergh, Richard Avedon, Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, Herb Ritz (and many others) in Vogue Italia, directed by the unforgettable Franca Sozzani, or in Moda, directed by Vittorio Corona, helped me to create for myself a world of beauty and acceptance. Only with them did I feel good.
Tatiana's enigmatic beauty was in their photos, in the advertising campaigns for Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld (1991), for Jill Sanders (1993), for Pomellato (1994), for Valentino, for Gianfranco Ferrè (1987), for Versace. I admired her natural beauty (which has remained so in recent years) and innate elegance.
Ahhh. how can we forget her presence in the iconic video, representing those golden years of fashion, "Freedom" by George Michale, alongside the other great super models?
Her death brought me back to that period of my life in a powerful way.
A period I love madly despite the dark moments of anorexia.
Now that period is a little bit emptier without Tatiana.
Have a safe journey, my Tatiana.
